Miami auto accident attorneys were pleased to hear of the recent car accident verdict that awarded the victim of an auto collision $6.8 million. The victim was a woman named Ryan Fell. She was severely injured in a crash caused by a drunk driver.
The jury, in Philadelphia, said the restaurant that served alcohol to the drunk driver was liable for the accident.
Ms. Fell was driving home after visiting a friend on March 15, 2007.
The driver of the other vehicle was Omar Villalava-Martinez. He had stopped at the Famous Mexican Restaurant & Bar in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, after work. In the course of two hours, he drank 12 beers and topped that off with a shot of liquor. Even though he was intoxicated, the restaurant continued to serve him.
At around 9:30 p.m, Villalava-Martinez got into a Ford Explorer and headed out on the road. He did not even get four miles before he crossed the center line and collided head-on with Fell’s white Nissan.
The crash seriously injured Fell, who was 22 at the time.
Fifty screws and several metal plates were needed to put Fell back together. More than three years after the accident, walking is still painful for her and she cannot run. She lost her job as an administrative assistant for a trucking company and remains unemployed.
Villalava-Martinez, an illegal immigrant, has been deported to Mexico, and the restaurant has closed.
